Aaron Cassada
Authorized Yogastha Sadhana Teacher

Aaron learned yoga the old-fashioned way: from the burning that comes with heartache and pain, misunderstandings and confusion, stories of the mystics and old books; from discipline, silence, forgiveness, and living a simple life; and, most importantly, through the traditional teacher/student relationship built on time and trust.  His teacher, Todd Geiser, offered grounded clarity on the path of yoga.  It was his acceptance, as well as his refusal to accept limiting beliefs, that nurtured the fire of transformation, leading down the path to yoga's awakening. In this light, Aaron offers the same to others who seek guidance on the transformative path of yoga and its freedom, or Mokshanam.
About Yogastha Sadhana

Yogastha Sadhana is unique.  There is nothing else to compare it with, although some will try.  Its necessity came from the misconceptions and appropriations that so easily discard the yoga traditions while commoditizing the teachings.  Its inspiration stems from the father of modern-day yoga, T. Krishnamacharya, whose efforts to bring the benefits of yoga to the people are still relevant today.  Yogastha Sadhana is a 5 series vinyasa method that systematically prepares and teaches practitioners the essence of what ancient yogis have passed from teacher to student since the beginning.

Series 1: Raja Vinyasa - Lotus-based sequence designed to open the hips for meditation.
Series 2: Sattvabhyasa - Backbending sequence to open the spine.
Series 3: Sthita Prajna - Arm balances with deeper hip and backbend postures.
Series 4: Dharma Meghah - Advanced postures building from previous series development.
Series 5: The Art of Yoga - Encouraging the creative aspect of posture sequencing.

Modifications and using yoga props (blocks, straps, and blankets) emphasize the importance of building a solid foundation so the breath can remain steady and regulated from one posture to the next.  Holding each asana for a 5-breath count is an invitation to be present with what every asana has to teach, all while effectively regulating the nervous system and increasing range of motion.  Everyone starts at the beginning with sun salutations; and with an honest and steady effort brought forth to develope this practice, our individual transformative potential will be revealed.

Of the 5 series in the Yogastha practice, 4 are structured and 1 is unstructured. With the development of the established series practice, the intuitive movement of the unstructured 5th series reveals itself as an embodied expression of one's freedom through the creative art of movement. The 5th series returns the asana practice to the grounded practitioner and is encouraged to be a regular part of weekly practices in addition to the other series.
